Bethesda Community Church places our children and their experience at church at a high priority. And, it shows! You see it in the rooms. Each room is furnished in a way to enhance learning and bring a joyful atmosphere. You see it in the faces of the children. Our children look forward to each visit. They learn about the Bible and its lessons in a nurturing environment. You see it in the actions of the teachers and volunteers. Our teachers and volunteers love children and make every effort to see that children are shown affection and attention. You see it in the parents' enthusiasm. Parents feel confidence in bringing their children to such a great place. Come and see all that's offered for your children. We believe you will see for yourself why your children will want to return time and time again.

Kids Church
Kids Church is geared to children grades 1st-6th -- an age group which is incredibly receptive to teaching on morals and values. Kids Church uses a fast-paced, up-tempo approach with a highly interactive format to instill and reiterate fundamental Godly principles. Each service centers on a specific theme. The theme is introduced and reinforced through a variety of object lessons. Puppets, music, drama, illusion, and videos are some of the methods used to involve all of a child's senses and make learning fun. Kids Church meets from 10:30 AM - 12:00 noon (during the Adult Service) every Sunday in the Living Room.
Sunday School
Kindergarten through 6th grade Sunday School classes meet every Sunday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Each class is divided by grade level and is kept small enough for active participation and personal interaction to take place. Each children's Sunday School teacher at Bethesda brings with them a wealth of experience, as well as a love for teaching. This clearly shines through when considering the longevity of the majority who have taught the same class for numerous years.
Royal Rangers
Royal Rangers - the trail to fun and adventure - is an exciting program for boys Kindergarten through 8th grade. Each church Royal Ranger group is called an "Outpost". Bethesda Community Church is Outpost #3 meaning we were the third Royal Ranger Outpost to form in the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God. Our program runs concurrent with the school year meeting every Wednesday night from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The boys gather by grade level to develop their interests, mold their character and earn merit awards in various life skills, Christian Service projects, and Bible Study. The age categories follow:

Ranger Kids - K - 2nd grade: Boys in this age group participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities which allows them to work through an exciting advancement program. Through interactive learning, Ranger Kids grow physically, spiritually, mentally and socially.

Discovery Rangers - Third, fourth and fifth grade: Discovery Rangers features a well-ordered curriculum designed to build a boy's confidence by mastering skills that will be useful for the rest of his life. In addition to weekly classroom activities campouts are planned throughout the year where the boys practice skills and develop friendships. All activities reinforce Christian values.

Adventure Rangers - Sixth, seventh and eighth grade: More challenging camping and outdoor activities are introduced to this age level with an emphasis on skill development, working as a team, and leadership training. Christian values are at the forefront of all activities.

Expedition Rangers - This age group is for the older boys who enjoy the camaraderie that has developed over their time in Royal Rangers and is a stepping stone into the Frontier Camping Fellowship - FCF. Emphasis is on working with and leading others in pursuit of following Christ.

Missionettes
Missionettes - a program designed for girls kindergarten through 8th grade. Every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Girls come together by grade level to learn how to apply Bible principles to their daily lives, work on specific merit awards, and plan service projects. Working and playing side-by-side, Missionette girls grow together developing strong long-lasting relationships in the process.

Daisies - The Sonshine Club for Kindergarten girls. Daisies earn colorful badges as they complete requirements for the achievement program. Four-week units allow visitors the opportunity to fit in right away. Club sponsors, together with their Daisies select the nine units they want to complete during the year.

Prims - The Discovery Club for first and second grade: Specific characters guide Prims through life-application stories as girls learn important biblical principles. Badges are earned as each girl completes specific requirements outlined in the achievement program. A total of l8 units are completed in two years.

Stars Club - Third, fourth and fifth grade: Girls work their way of the Stairway of the Stars Achievement Program as the complete units in the four worlds: The World of Truth (basic Christian doctrine), The World Around You (Missions), The World About You (Activities), and The World Within You (Character Development). Friends Club - Sixth, Seventh and Eighth grade: Discussion-oriented lessons continue the Titus 2 principle of women mentoring young girls. Children's Ministry Staff

Mike Ballard
I have had the privilege of serving the Lord by ministering to children of all ages for the last 20 years. I find no greater joy than to be part of changing children's lives and leading them into a relationship with Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the many years the Lord has allowed me to teach and train up children in His ways.

We live in a world where children are challenged every day to compromise their beliefs in Jesus Christ. The media bombards our children with ungodliness through television, internet, and the radio. We have an incredible task before us as parents. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it." Deut. 11:18-19 says, "Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

As parents, we are called by God not only to teach our children but also to live a godly life before them. All of us need all the help we can get, counting me! I believe God has called me to come beside you and help you through this journey. I have a strong conviction that when we place God's Word in a child's heart, change will occur. When children experience pure worship through Spirit and truth, hearts will change. Therefore, as your Children's Pastor, I am committed to making worship and scripture the foundation on which the Children's Ministry at Bethesda will stand.

In the last three years, Bethesda has seen many new and exciting changes in the Children's Ministry. With the addition of our new children's facility and your continual support to P2, we will make Bethesda Church a place where your children will wake up every Sunday morning excited to go to church! Please pray for me and Sheryl as we listen to the Lord for your children.

Brenda Hardeman
Brenda Hardeman is Assistant to the Children's Pastor. She and her husband, David, live in Hurst with their four children, Samantha, Kaylie, Preston and Regan.

Brenda has worked numerous years in ministry and church offices. David works as Director of Operations for Sonitrol based in Westlake.

Brenda and David have both served in many areas of the church. But they especially enjoy working in Children's Ministry because it is something they can do with their entire family. They have had the joy of ministering with their children in several Children's Outreaches and Conferences.

“I am excited to be part of what the Lord is doing here at Bethesda. Through the Children’s Ministry, I pray each and every child will come to know the Lord as their Savior and will serve Him throughout their lifetime.”
